Configuring Pegasus 4.31 for Windows

Note: If you currently use Pegasus to read your K-State e-mail, it's recommended you create a new account rather than edit an existing one.
  1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  2. Click the Start Setup Wizard button and then click Next.
  3. In the box provided, type your K-State e-mail address and then click Next.
  4. Decide if you want to use POP or IMAP as your incoming mail server type. Follow the instructions below for the type of server you chose:
    • POP server: In The address of your POP3 Server box, type pilotpop.k-state.edu and then click Next.
    • IMAP server: Leave the POP3 server box blank and click Skip. Go to step 7 below and continue with the remaining steps in this section.
  5. In the User name box, type your eID.
  6. In the Password box, type your password and then click Next.
  7. In The address of your SMTP server box, type pilotauth.smtp.k-state.edu and then click Next.
  8. Click Dialup or Network on the How do you connect to the Internet? page and then click Next.
  9. You will be presented with a summary of your account. Confirm everything is correct, click Finish and then click OK.
  10. Follow the instructions below to enable SSL and Authenticated SMTP.

Enabling SSL

In order to view your K-State e-mail using Pegasus, you have to enable SSL. Follow the instructions below for the type of server you chose:

IMAP Settings
  1. On the Tools menu, click IMAP profiles.
  2. Click New.
  3. In the Enter a name for this definition box, type a name for the definition.

  4. In the IMAP server address box, type pilotimap.k-state.edu.
  5. In the Server port box, type 993.
  6. In the Login name box, type your eID.
  7. In the Password box, type your eID password.
  8. Click the Settings tab and then click the settings and behaviours that you desire.

    Note: If you want to connect to this profile each time you start Pegasus, click the Always connect to this profile When Pegasus Mail starts up check box.

  9. Click the Security tab.
  10. Select the Via direct SSL connect option.

  11. Click OK.
  12. Click Connect and then click Done.
  13. Follow the instructinos below to enable Authenticated SMTP.
POP Settings
  1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  2. Click the Receiving (POP3) tab.
  3. Select the account you want to enable a secure connection for.
  4. Click Edit.
  5. In the Server TCP/IP port box on the General tab, type 995.

  6. Click the Security tab.
  7. Select the Via direct SSL connect option.

  8. Click OK and then click OK again.
  9. Follow the instructions below to enable Authenticated SMTP.

Enabling Authenticated SMTP

  1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  2. Click the Sending (SMTP) tab.
  3. Select the K-State SMTP account and then click the Edit button.
  4. Under Enter a name for this definition, type pilotauth.smtp.k-state.edu.

  5. Under General settings for sending mail via SMTP, in the Server host name box, type pilotauth.smtp.k-state.edu.
  6. In the Server TCP/IP port box, type 465.
  7. Click the Security tab.
  8. Under Use SSL/TLS security on this connection, select the Via direct SSL connect option.

  9. Under SMTP Authentication, click Login to SMTP server using the following details.
  10. In the Username and Password boxes, type your eID and password, respectively.
  11. Click OK and then click OK.
