Configuring Outlook 2003

Note: If you currently use Outlook 2003 to read your K-State e-mail, it's recommended you create a new account rather than edit an existing one.
  1. On the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts.
  2. Under E-mail, click the Add a new e-mail account option and then click Next.
  3. Select either IMAP or POP3 as the server type and then click Next.
  4. In the Your Name box, type your name.

    Note: This is an illustration of IMAP settings. POP settings will vary slightly.

  5. In the E-mail Address box, type your e-mail address.
  6. Follow the instructions below for the type of server you chose:
    • IMAP: In the Incoming mail server box, type pilotimap.k-state.edu.
    • POP: In the Incoming mail server box, type pilotpop.k-state.edu.
  7. In the Outgoing mail server box, type pilotauth.smtp.k-state.edu.
  8. In the User Name box, type your eID.
  9. In the Password box, type your eID password.
  10. Click the More Settings button.
  11. Click the Outgoing Server tab.
  12. Click the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication check box.
  13. Click the Use same settings as my incoming mail server option.
  14. Click the Advanced tab.
  15. Under Incoming server (IMAP), click the This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) check box.

    Note: This is an illustration of IMAP settings. POP settings will display the POP server type and the POP port number which is 995.

  16. Under Outgoing server (SMTP), click the This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) check box.
  17. In the Outgoing server (SMTP) box, type 465 and then click OK.
  18. Click Next and then click Finish.
