Start Up and Shut Down Procedures

Screen
A screen is on the wall behind the podium.  The screen is raised and lowered with the switch located on the wall to the right of the whiteboard.  Be careful because the screen does not automatically stop at the bottom of the whiteboard tray when being lowered.

Projector:  Sharp  (The unit is mounted on the ceiling)
Default:  power off
Resolution of projector is 1024 by 768 pixels.  The Sharp can project images from the PC, a laptop, the document camera or from the DVD player. The unit must be switched on by both the podium power switch and the "on" button on the Inline box (the "wedge"). To blank the screen without turning off the projector, press the "blank" button on the Inline box (the "wedge"). To restore the image, simply re-press the "blank" button.

The Extron Media Link Controller is located on top of the podium and controls what is displayed through the projector.  To turn it on press the "Display Power" button.  There is a blue LED light next to the projector that lights up when the projector has been turned on. This light will go out when the projector has been shut down.  A blue backlit display will show what items are available to be displayed through the projector. To turn the power off press and hold the "Display Power" button until power is turned off.  Note: it may take a moment for the machine to turn on/off.  The green light will flash once the lamp has been turned off.  After the green light is off, the blue back light on the Extron Media Link Controller will flash. If restarting the LCD projector, the entire shutdown sequence must take place before the projector will restart.

Power
Podium power is turned on with one power switch, located in the podium. The switch is on a power surge protector mounted on the right side of the double-doored cabinet.  It controls the power to the "wedge", the DVD unit, and the sound system.

Computer
Select "Laptop" on Extron Media Link Controller
Portable computer: In order for a portable computer or laptop to be visible through the projector, use the external cables located in the podium drawer (video, audio and ethernet) and press the laptop button on the Inline ("wedge") box.

Visual Presenter (Select "Document Camera" on Extron Media Link Controller)
Default: power off
The Epson is a camera projector for opaque materials, transparencies, slides, and negatives, as well as three-dimensional objects. The power switch is on the upper right side of the unit.

To operate the camera, raise the camera head and lights, then power on the unit. Press the document camera button on the Media Link. You will see output to both the computer monitor and the projector unit.

To focus the Epson, zoom in closely on the image by pressing the "Tele" button, then hit auto focus. While the auto focus button is blinking, the camera is still focusing. The button to adjust between upper and lower lamps is located on the right side of the unit. One push provides upper lamps, a second push provides the lower (transparency) light, and a third no lights at all.

DVD unit Select "DVD" on Extron Media Link Controller
Default: power off
The DVD unit is located in the bottom left podium cabinet. The power switch is located on the front left side of the unit. To display the DVD image to the classroom, press the DVD button on the Extron Media Link Controller. To operate the DVD controls, press the blue DVD button on the unit's remote. The audio is controlled by a switch on the sound system in the small closet.

(1) First row (closest to podium)
(2) Middle row
(3) Last two rows
