Change Management Board

The Central IT Change Management Board (CMB) regularly reviews proposals and helps to communicate and announce pending changes. Questions or comments can be directed to the CMB at: cmb-l@k-state.edu.

Membership

The CMB is open to central IT departments who wish to adopt standardized change management processes, and participate in the review and coordination of service requests. CMB representatives are responsible for attending weekly meetings, coaching their department on the use of templates and processes, communicating changes to processes, and coordinating departmental work space on the CMB web site.

Review and Feedback

The CMB meets regularly to review proposed changes. Change requests received by Friday at 5 p.m. will be reviewed by the CMB no later than the following Wednesday. The CMB evaluates proposed changes from several perspectives:

  • Lead time – Is there adequate lead time to implement the change?
  • Concurrent changes – Are there other changes that can occur concurrently?
  • Change dependencies – Are there dependencies that may impact the success of a change?
  • Impact on other IT units – Have all IT units affected by the change been consulted and included in the planning?
  • Communication – Does the communication plan reach all affected users in an effective and timely manner?
  • Risk – What is the risk of making the change as well as the risk of not making the change?
