College and department recommendations

Several K-State academic colleges and departments have specific recommendations for students majoring in their fields of study. Before making any computer purchase, check with your college, department, and/or advisor.

• Agriculture

  No recommendations available.

• Architecture, Planning and Design

  The college's recommended computer specifications require Windows XP Professional w/Service Pack 2 for 2007-2008. Vista is expected to be adopted next year, for Fall 2008.

• Arts and Sciences

  A college-level recommendation is not available. Check with your department or advisor. Macs are recommended for majors in art and journalism. See the art department recommendations.

• Business Administration

  Follow K-State Information Technology recommendations.

• Education

  The college's computer recommendations for education majors include an Apple Mac environment.

• Engineering

  Follow K-State guidelines for student computer purchases.

• Human Ecology

  Follow K-State guidelines for student computer purchases. The only exceptions are Interior Design, and Apparel and Textiles recommendations.

• Technology and Aviation

• Veterinary Medicine

  The College of Veterinary Medicine has implemented a Student Computing Initiative, where every first-year student enrolling at the college receives a new, convertible laptop computer as part of their technology fee. For more information, review the college's student computing information page.
