- Purple Power Play on Poyntz. 5 to 9:30 p.m., Poyntz Avenue, downtown Manhattan. Celebrate the upcoming football season. This two day pep rally includes an inflatable carnival, food, games and live music and entertainment followed by a pep rally on Friday night. Children can have their pictures taken with Willie the Wildcat 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday inside Manhattan Town Center.
- 21st Annual Gala for the Friends of K-State Libraries. 6:30 p.m., Hale Library, in the third floor Farrell Great Room. This year's international theme will feature South American and Asian food, international dance troupes, a Latin jazz combo and the opportunity (optional!) for guests to wear international attire. - K-State Football Ring of Honor Ceremony. 7:30 p.m., Bramlage Coliseum. Former Wildcat greats David Allen, Martin Gramatica, Terence Newman and Mark Simoneau will comprise the second class inducted into the Ring of Honor.
- Exhibit: As Big as All Outdoors: Watercolors from the Permanent Collection. through September 13, 2008. Beach Museum of Art. This gathering of works from a range of periods and styles explores how artists such as Charles Marshall, John Steuart Curry, and Joan Foth have used described urban side streets and rural spots using this easy-to-transport, but often challenging, medium.
