Training provided by IGP allows international participants to develop
technical knowledge and skills in areas that will allow them to
be more informed purchasers and processors of U.S. grains and oilseeds.
The training programs acquaint international business and government
leaders with current trends and issues affecting the grain and
oilseed industries.
IGP courses,
usually one to two weeks in length, typically include case studies,
lectures and laboratory demonstrations. Courses also often include
tours of industry facilities, farms, country elevators, the Kansas
City Board of Trade and other sites of interest. Faculty members
from K-State's Department
of Grain Science and Industry and industry experts facilitate
the educational courses.
IGP regularly
schedules two short courses every year: Grain
Purchasing and Feed
Manufacturing.
IGP also offers
the KSU
Resident Milling Program which includes eight weeklong courses
that are held in conjunction with IOAM. (This program has replaced
IGP's annual Flour Milling Course).
As the foundation of
IGP's training programs, these courses, conducted in Manhattan,
Kansas, annually attract hundreds of participants from throughout
the world.
IGP also develops
special courses upon request.
