Information
Mr. Howard joined the Department of Grain Science and Industry at
Kansas State University in 1997 after more than sixteen years of
international experience in grain marketing. He started his international
career in Houston, Texas in 1981 marketing rice. In 1984 he moved
to Casablanca, Morocco for U.S. Wheat Associates, Inc. with responsibilities
for analysis and marketing for East, West, and North Africa. From
1988 until 1993, he lived in Rotterdam where he was responsible
for markets in Western and Eastern Europe. Following this, he spent
three years in Washington, D.C. managing world-wide wheat marketing
programs until he moved to Singapore in 1995 where he was responsible
for South East Asian wheat markets as well as the Sub Continent
region.
Mr. Howard at
one time was an advisor to the U.S. delegation to the International
Grains Council in London. He also has been on the Planning Committee
of USDA's International Cooperation & Development/Cochran Fellowship
Program. He has been on the Education Advisory Committee of the
American Institute of Baking.
During his early
career, he spent five years on the administrative staff of the Texas
Agricultural Experiment Station. In the early 1970's, Mr. Howard
was on the staff of the U.S. House of Representatives' Science and
Technology Committee.
