The $4 million
IGP Executive Conference Center is located on Kimball Avenue in
the new Grain Science and Industry complex. The IGP center was dedicated
in May 2004 and provides world-class meeting and instructional facilities.The
new IGP Center will allow the program to continue training international
purchasers and users of U.S. commodities in a world-class facility.
Building
Details
The center includes a 63-seat tiered auditorium-style classroom
that is equipped for simultaneous translation of up to three languages
and includes audio, visual and multimedia equipment for state-of-the-art
presentations.
Consisting of
nearly 20,000 square feet, the building includes a grain grading
laboratory with 30 grain grading stations, a Carter dockage separator,
moisture, test-weight and sizing equipment, providing hands-on learning.
The facility also has
a conference room, a dining and lounge area, staff offices and other
rooms that will fully meet and serve the needs of IGP's international
participants.
IGP training
courses also utilize K-State's Grain Science and Industry Department's
facilities, which includes a feed mill, flour mill, baking laboratory,
wheat quality laboratory and a value-added biotechnology center.

State University Grain Science Complex
The IGP
Conference Center is one of five buildings that will make up the
K-State Grain Science and Industry Complex. Other facilities in
the complex include the Bioprocessing and Industrial Value-Added
Program building, completed in spring 2004. Still to be built on
the site are a grain science teaching and research building, which
will house the Bakery Science and Management Program; a feed mill;
and a flour mill. The K-State Grain Science and Industry Complex
sits on 16 acres on Kimball Avenue in Manhattan, Kan.
The building
is also available for meetings and conferences hosted by outside

IGP
Major Contributors
The Kansas Wheat Commission, Kansas Corn Commission, Kansas Soybean
Commission and Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad provided the
majority of the funds needed to build the IGP Conference Center
and to install state-of-the-art audio-visual systems. The Center
was built at a cost of about $4 million.
