Revised HRIS Upgrade Schedule - November 11-15, 2004
The HRIS upgrade process will begin a day earlier than previously announced. The process will begin November 11, 2004. Detailed timelines are included in the revised November HRIS Calendar/Schedule: http://www.ksu.edu/hr/hris/hris_calendar.html

The December HRIS Calendar/Schedule is also available on the above web site. Please note that Saturday, December 18 is the last day to enter time and leave for the pay period ending 12/18/04 and that the Division of Human Resources will be closed December 24-31, 2004.

New Requirement for Issuing Social Security Numbers for Foreign Nationals
Effective October 13, 2004, the Social Security Administration (SSA) added an additional requirement that must be met before a social security number will be assigned to a foreign student. Students must now, in addition to the current requirements, provide evidence that they have secured employment or a promise of employment. To meet this requirement the SSA will accept an original letter from the “hiring department” with original signature which specifies that the named student has been offered employment. The letter must be on letterhead and signed in blue ink. A complete list of requirements for issuing a social security number for foreign students and a sample letter of the new requirement approved by the SSA can be found at http://www.ksu.edu/hr/alien.html. Daylight Savings Time
EXEMPT employees will NOT be affected by daylight savings time. NONEXEMPT employees who work during the time when the clock is set back (Sunday, October 31, at 2:00 a.m.) will work an extra hour. All hours actually worked on Sunday will be recorded as regular (REG) hours. (Example: 8-hour shift … 9 REG hours will be recorded if the employee worked during the specified shift on Sunday.) If the employee does not adjust their work schedule for the rest of the workweek, they could potentially receive overtime pay (OTP) or compensatory time earned (CME) at the end of the 10/24/2004 -11/06/2004 workweek. Remember that overtime is not reported until an employee has met their FLSA limit (40 hours). Please contact Alma Deutsch at (785) 532-1448, if you need further explanation.
