Competency Assessment Sheet
The PER-20, Faculty and GTA Spoken English Competency
Assessment Sheet and the instructions have been revised. The revised form and instructions are
available at http://www.k-state.edu/hr/forms. Changes were made to the GTA portion of the
form and instructions to help clarify that graduate teaching assistants whose
first language is not English must have a Test of Spoken English (TSE) or the
Speaking Proficiency English Assessment Kit (SPEAK) or the internet based Test
of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT) score as
well as be interviewed by two institutional representatives and a student
(undergraduate or graduate) representative.

appointed to a regular full-time, twelve month unclassified position;
b. employees
appointed to a regular full-time, less than twelve month unclassified
non-instructional position;
c. employees
appointed to a less than full-time, twelve month position; and
d. employees appointed to a less than full-time, less than twelve month non-instructional position.
