Human Resources Newsletter

September 2, 2011

Topics included in this issue:

Voluntary Retirement Incentive — Extension

The State of Kansas announced yesterday that the Voluntary Retirement Incentive Program employee submission deadline has been extended to October 14, with a last day on payroll no later than October 31, 2011. This extension is also available to those who have already submitted an agreement to retire to Human Resources. For more information about the program, including updated Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ.s) and the agreement form, please see http://www.da.ks.gov/vrip/default.htm. Questions on retirement procedure should be directed to benadmin@ksu.edu. It is not anticipated that this deadline will be extended again.

FMLA Training

An FMLA training session is scheduled for September 14, 201, from 9-10:30 am in the Edwards Hall commons. Space is limited and the session is filling fast. If you are considering attending or have questions, send an email to training@ksu.edu.

GTA/GRA/GA Health Insurance Enrollment Problems

Graduate students who have had problems enrolling online for Health Insurance should call the United Health Care direct line number at 866-808-8305 x6457. Questions can also be sent to the following email SIDPremium-CustomerService@UHCSR.com.

We appreciate your patience this year with the new enrollment process. For those who have had problems paying but had enrolled before the end of the open enrollment, August 31, coverage will be backdated to August 1, 2011.

Update Address information for Health Insurance Open Enrollment

In a previous newsletter, department contacts were encouraged to urge employees to update their address in HRIS so that the Campus Directory would be current. Now we are asking your help in reminding faculty and staff to update their mailing information through Employee Self-Service for another important reason—Health Insurance Open Enrollment.

In early September, HR will provide employee address information to the State Employee Health Plan (SEHP) for Health Insurance purposes. HR Benefits sends out the actual packets for Open Enrollment in late September to employees' departments. However, the address information that is collected on September 9 from HRIS will be used to send new insurance cards from the insurance providers directly to employees' homes in January 2012.

A memorandum to personnel specialists located on the HR web site under "Hot Topics." Phone Book memo (pdf) outlines information on how employees can view and update information in Employee Self Service. Your help is appreciated!

Mark your calendars - Benefits EXPO October 6, 2011, K-State Student Union

Health insurance open-enrollment sessions, a special presentation on Health Insurance Plan C, and retirement sessions are planned. The ballroom will be filled with vendors again this year. More information will follow.
