Revised Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have updated the Employment Eligibility Verification Form (Form I-9) to eliminate outdated references to the former Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) and its parent agency, the Department of Justice.  Aside from replacing outdated references to the Department of Justice and the former INS with references to DHS and its components, the updated Form I-9 is the same as the 11/21/91 edition.  To accommodate this change we have placed the updated form on our forms page http://www.k-state.edu/hr/forms.

All U.S. employers are responsible for completion and retention of Form I-9 for each individual they hire for employment in the United States. This includes citizens and non-citizens. On the form, the employer must verify the employment eligibility and identity documents presented by the employee and record the document information on the Form I-9. Acceptable documents are listed on the back of the form and detailed under "Special Instructions" at http://uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/i-9.htm.   Instructions on how to complete the Form I-9 can be found at http://www.k-state.edu/hr/infomgmt/imcompI-9.htm

On Campus Work Permits
This is a reminder that Foreign National (non-resident) hourly student employees must have a 2005 Fall On Campus Work Permit completed.  This includes current student employees as well as rehires and new hires.  For all other non-resident employees such as Graduate Students and Faculty, work permits are required at the time of hire and usually go through the end of their appointment.  The On Campus Work Permit is obtained through the International Student Center.

eID Password Change Deadline is September 14
It's time to change your eID password for the fall semester. August 1 through September 14 is the mandatory password-change timeframe.  Passwords not changed by 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, will cease to be valid.  Visit the eid.k-state.edu website and sign in to change your password.  If you have forgotten your password, call the K-State IT Help Desk at (785) 532-7722, verify your identity and staff will set a temporary password for you to use.  For more information, see the Password FAQs page.
