Information on Graduate and Hourly Student Employment added to HR Website
Three new documents have been added to the Graduate Student Employment Guidelines on the HR website.  They include the following:

Benefits/Entitlements Summary for Students and Temporary Positions

Employing a Graduate Student in their Final Semester & Last Semester Hours

Employment Summary Sheet for Students and Temporary Positions

Questions may be directed to your Human Resources, Payroll & Employee Data liaison at (785) 532-6277.

On Campus Work Permits
This is a reminder that Foreign National (non-resident) hourly student employees must have a 2006 Fall On Campus Work Permit completed.  This includes current student employees as well as rehires and new hires.  For all other non-resident employees such as Graduate Students and Faculty, work permits are required at the time of hire and usually go through the end of their appointment.  The On Campus Work Permit is obtained through the International Student Center.

Important Personnel Transaction Processing Reminders
Please submit personnel transactions with all required documents to Division of Human Resources.  Items missing or not completed correctly will delay processing and sometimes delay paychecks.  For more detailed information refer to the memorandum: “Important Personnel Transaction Processing Reminders”.  If you have questions please do not hesitate to contact our office at (785) 532-6277.

K-State eID – Granting Privileges
Granting privileges to a newly hired employee (excluding student employees) allows them to establish an e-mail account.  If privileges are not granted prior to being hired in HRIS, the e-mail account can not be established and they lose the ability to receive valuable information.

New employees (excluding student employees) need to self register to create a K-State eID (electronic ID) by accessing the following Web site and following the registration instructions: http://eid.K-state.edu.  After the employee creates a K-State eID (electronic ID), department personnel specialists need to grant them privileges so their e-mail account can be established.  Note:  Undergraduate and graduate students need a K-State eID to enroll, they will have created/registered for an eID and should know their K-State eID prior to being hired as a student employee.  Please do not have them create another eID.

eID Password Change Deadline is September 13
August 1 through September 13 is the mandatory password-change timeframe.  To change your password, visit the eid.k-state.edu website and sign in, then select the Password Settings (Change) option.

If you've forgotten your password, call the IT Help Desk at (785) 532-7722 and verify your identity, and staff will set a temporary password to use on the eID site.  Passwords not changed by the end of Wednesday, September 13, will cease to work.  As a basic security measure, previous passwords cannot be re-used for two years -- since long-term use of the same password is a poor security practice.  For more about passwords, see the Password FAQs.
