Contract Data
The deadline for updating fiscal year (12-month) contract data was July 31. To insure that all fiscal year contract information has been updated and is correct, please print the Unclassified Data Report and make any changes/updates as appropriate. To complete the contract data process, please update academic year (9-month) contract data by August 31.

The only on-line entry required by department personnel specialists will be for those individuals whose contract type has changed from FY 2005 to FY 2006 and for those individuals with term contracts. Throughout the year when a contract is renewed or changed, on-line entry is required within 20 days from the contract begin date. To update contract information, refer to the step-by-step instructions found at: http://www.ksu.edu/hr/human.resource.units/hris_manuals.html

eID Password Change Deadline is September 14
It's time to change your eID password for the fall semester. August 1 through September 14 is the mandatory password-change timeframe. Passwords not changed by 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, will cease to work. Visit the eid.k-state.edu website and sign in to change your password. If you have forgotten your password, call the K-State IT Help Desk at (785) 532-7722, verify your identity and staff will set a temporary password for you to use. For more information, see the Password FAQs page.

FLSA Status Code Change for Graduate Research Assistants
Effective August 14, 2005 the Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA) status for Graduate Research Assistants (GRAs) will be changed from exempt (E) to non-covered (Z) in the Human Resource Information System (HRIS). The FLSA status for Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) will remain as exempt (E) where Graduate Assistants (GAs) will remain non-exempt (N). KSU Spoken English Language Competency Reminder
This is a reminder that for all new Fall 2005 faculty hires, the completion of the Spoken English Competency section on the Appointment Form (PER-38) (PDF) is required. New policy changes were implemented by the Kansas Board of Regents (BOR) on the Spoken English Language Competency of Faculty and Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) effective January 20, 2005. The BOR regulations require that all prospective full-time and part-time faculty and GTAs, excluding visiting professors on exchange for one year or less, having classroom or laboratory instructional responsibilities and/or direct tutorial or advisement contact, other than for courses or sessions conducted primarily in a foreign language, must have their spoken English language assessed prior to employment. Payroll Transfer Update
We are auditing the funding data sheets (PER-44) as we receive them, and are finding that in some cases the fund/source and/or organization are not being changed in the payroll funding table. This is occurring when payroll is being transferred from a grant project to a non-grant project. We are making the needed change(s) to these fields based on what has been indicated on the funding data sheet.

Please try to verify that all fields are correct prior to submitting the Funding Data sheets. Thank you.

We are hoping to have the process for payroll transfers (in HRIS) in place by the end of August.

Unclassified Data Update Deadline is September 30
In addition to reviewing and updating the Contract Data pages in HRIS ... the Unclassified Data page also needs your attention this time of year. Tenure information, KATS faculty/staff indicator, faculty senate standing, and graduate faculty status reside on this page.
