K-State Dependent/Spouse Tuition Grant Increased

Larry Moeder, Assistant Vice-President for Student Life, announced that the K-State Dependent/Spouse Tuition Grant has been increased from 3 hours per semester, to 7 hours per semester for full time spouse and dependent undergraduate students. The 7 hours, is an attempt by the university to increase the benefit to a rate that represents approximately 50% of tuition for past participants of the K-State program. It was also determined that recruitment and retention should be positively affected. The grant increase is effective with the Fall 2010 semester. The increase is a result of recommendations from a task force co-chaired by Dr. Brian Niehoff and Ms. Marcia Stockham. Other members of the committee were Dr. Tom Vontz, Ms. Jennifer Gehrt, Ms. Karlene Varnadore, Mr. Robert Gamez and Ms. Becki Bohnenblust.

FMLA Requests October 1, 2008 - September 30, 2009

Key personnel specialists in each department were notified yesterday that the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Program will soon conduct an audit at K-State and one of their requirements is to review copies of all Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) requests for the period October 1, 2008 - September 30, 2009. Since the tracking of FMLA has been delegated to each department, HR needs to gather those documents from each department. Please send to HR copies of all FMLA requests your department has received from your employees for time off during this period, including all supporting documentation. Include the HRIS Employee ID on the top of the form. Please send forms via campus or US Mail marked "Confidential" to Benefits-FMLA, HR, 103 Edwards Hall or drop the documents off at our office by July 26. Since this is confidential medical information, do not e-mail the documents. If your department did not have any FMLA requests or designations during that time period, please send an email to to let us know that so we can account for every department.

To help identify people who may have used FMLA leave, run the HRIS .Earnings Code Record Report. for earnings codes SCE, SCK, SHL, and SHE. You should run the report for the applicable pay periods: PPE 10/4/08 through 10/3/09. Instructions for running this report are located at: (pdf)

New HRIS Report: Longevity Bonus (Classified)

This report has been designed to track longevity bonuses and service dates for classified employees. It provides a list of classified employees within the selected department or department group and displays the following information: employee ID, name, position number, status, regular/temporary, job title, department, service date, length of service, and last bonus date, if applicable.
