The Division of Human Resources is continuing to restructure and implement staff changes as a result of downsizing due to the budget reductions. We are restructuring the duties in the Benefits Administration unit and have moved a vacant Human Resource Professional I position to that unit. The new duties of the vacant position include responsibility for administering the KPERS retirement plans, Workers. Compensation, and the TEA and KPERS optional group life insurance programs. Recruitment will begin on this position next week and it will be posted on the HR Employment Services website. When the position is filled, we will provide more detailed information about new or continuing responsibilities of the other Benefits Administration staff members.
In addition, the Employee Relations & Training department has been combined into the Division of Human Resources. Char Shropshire continues as the Assistant Director for Employee Relations, including EAP coordination, and can be reached through Human Resources (785) 532-6277. Gina Lowe has moved to the Compensation & Classification unit and is responsible for Employee Training, the Performance Management System, and various classification duties. Mylene Larson has also moved to the Compensation & Classification unit and provides administrative support for the unit.
Jacquee Stubbings is now working full-time in the Employment Services unit. We still have more changes to come and will continue to report those to you as they are implemented. Thank you for your patience as our staff adjusts to new roles.
As you may know, Kansas State University uses The Work Number to provide automated employment and income verifications for our employees.
The Work Number will be implementing their new risk-based authentication login process beginning on Saturday, June 26. Effective June 26, 2010 when you log into The Work Number for employment verification activities, you will have a one-time initial enrollment after you enter your user ID and password. This additional level of security is being added as a step to continually improve the privacy of your information. You'll likely be familiar with the format as it is one currently used by many leading financial institutions to better ensure users are who they say they are. The Department of Administration announced the implementation of a policy of 100% direct deposit for employee payroll and travel and expense reimbursements effective for all payments made on or after October 1, 2010. If they have no banking relationships, the Skylight pay card will be available for them. More information regarding the pay cards will be disseminated as we receive it.
