Additional Pay Period Information
There is an additional pay period in Fiscal Year 2006 because of the relationship between the state's biweekly pay cycle and the start/end date of the fiscal year.  This has no impact on an employee's base salary but does result in an additional pay period for continuing twelve-month employees paid through the state's payroll process.

Fiscal Year End Reminders
Leave accruals – 12 month unclassified employees who have held positions for the full fiscal year will not earn leave for pay periods ending 5-20-06 and 6-3-06.   In addition, all 12 month unclassified employees will not accrue leave for the pay period ending 6-17-06, as this will be the third pay check in June.

The June 30, 2006 pay check is the third pay check in the month.  Therefore, premiums for group health insurance, KPERS optional group life insurance, TEA life insurance and contributions to the KanElect flexible spending accounts will not be deducted from this third pay check.

Summer double deductions end with the pay check dated 5-19-06.

The last pay check of the academic year for 9 month employees will be the check dated 6-02-06.  The regular group health insurance premium will be deducted from this check.

Fiscal year 2007 funding rows will be automatically inserted on June 8th, with an effective date of 6-18-06.

The final day to submit transfer of payrolls to Human Resources for fiscal year 2006 is June 9, 2006.

Questions should be addressed to the Division of Human Resources at (785) 532-6277.

Working After Retirement Rules for KPERS Retirees
Effective July 1, 2006, the following changes are enacted by Senate Bill 270 as it concerns Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS) retirees:

a.       the current $15,000 annual earning limitation increases to $20,000 for retirees who return to work for the same employer (state of Kansas including KSU) after retirement from the same employer; and

b.      departments who hire an employee in a KPERS covered position who has retired from a different KPERS employer (e.g. school district, county, city) will begin paying contributions equivalent to the employee contribution (4 percent) plus the actuarially-required employer contribution (currently 5.84%) based upon the retiree’s employment compensation.  There are no annual earning limitations for these employees and they would not participate in KPERS.

Questions should be addressed to Benefits Administration in the Division of Human Resources at (785) 532-6277.

Workers’ Compensation Mileage Reimbursement Form
The Division of Human Resources has developed a Workers’ Compensation Mileage Reimbursement form for employees to use when requesting reimbursement for all trips that exceed five miles roundtrip if the purpose of the trip was to obtain medical care or purchase medical related items.  The form may be found on the Benefits Administration web page at: http://www.k-state.edu/hr/benefits/wc.htm or on the HR forms web page at: http://www.k-state.edu/hr/forms/
