Executive Directive 05-356
On February 3, 2005, Governor Sebelius issued Executive Directive 05-356 authorizing activation payments and pay differentials for employees of the State of Kansas who are activated to military duty.  This directive authorizes two separate initiatives for current State of Kansas employees who are activated to full time military duty, mobilized, and deployed in excess of 30 consecutive days in support of a military operation to defend our nation. 

a.       The first of these initiatives is a one-time Military Activation Payment of $1,000 for current State of Kansas employees who have, as a state employee, been mobilized and deployed since September 11, 2001, and for state employees who are mobilized and deployed in the future.   This payment is funded by the state Adjutant General’s office.

b.      The second initiative is a Military Pay Differential for those employees who are currently mobilized and deployed, or who are mobilized and deployed in the future, and whose income while on active duty is less than what they earned as a state employee.  This payment is funded by the employee’s KSU employing department.

IT Position Description Profile Form revised
The Division of Personnel Services in Topeka has revised the IT Position Description Profile Form DA-313.  At this time there is no need to submit an updated Profile on each of your current positions in the Information Technology series.  However, as IT positions are submitted for update, allocation, or reallocation, the revised Profile must be used.  The revised form is available on the Human Resources Home Page under Classification Services http://www.ksu.edu/hr/classification/index.html by selecting “Position Description Profile for Information Technology Positions (DA-313) as Excel” or by going directly to the State of Kansas website at http://da.state.ks.us/ps/documents/itpdprofile.htm.  Questions should be directed to Classification Services at (785) 532-6277.

New Benefit with Superior Vision Plan
A new value added benefit is available to participants in the Superior Vision Basic or Enhanced plans.  Superior Vision and Arlington Lens Supply have entered into an agreement to offer an online mail order contact lenses program to participants.  This is an optional benefit and participants may continue to purchase their contacts from their provider if they wish.

The new online site www.SVContacts.com is a network provider that offers a wide variety of contact lenses.  Lenses are shipped directly to the participant based on the doctor’s prescription.  This option does not change the existing contact lens benefit.  It is just another convenient option for participants to use when purchasing their contact lenses.
