KanElect
The Internal Revenue Service and the United States Department of Treasury now allow a “grace period” immediately following each Flexible Spending Account plan year.  During the “grace period” unused benefits remaining in a Health Care Flexible Spending Account may be used to pay for qualified expenses incurred during the “grace period.”

The KanElect Health Care Flexible Spending Account has been modified to include a “grace period” through the end of February 2006.  Therefore, for the 2005 Health Care Flexible Spending Account, expenses eligible for reimbursement are those incurred from January 1, 2005 through February 28, 2006.

Please note that there is NO “grace period” for the Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account.

Claims for either KanElect Flexible Spending Account for plan year 2005 (including the “grace period”) must be submitted by April 15, 2006, to ASI.  Questions should be addressed to Benefits Administration in the Division of Human Resources at (785) 532-6277.

K-State eID – Granting Privileges
Granting privileges to a newly hired employee (excluding student employees) allows them to establish an e-mail account.

New employees (excluding student employees) need to self register to create a K-State eID (electronic ID) by accessing the following Web site and following the registration instructions: http://eid.K-state.edu.  After the employee creates a K-State eID (electronic ID), department personnel specialists need to grant them privileges so their e-mail account can be established.  If privileges are not granted, an e-mail account cannot be established until after they have been hired into HRIS.

Note:  Undergraduate and graduate students need a K-State eID to enroll, they will have created/registered for an eID and should know their K-State eID prior to being hired as a student employee.  Please do not have them create another eID.
