Emergency Contacts

Employees have the ability to identify and/or modify emergency contract information via HRIS Employee Self Service. Please encourage employees to complete this important information.

Department personnel specialists may also identify and/or modify an employee's emergency contacts using the Emergency Contact pages. Updating this information in either component (Employee Self Service or Emergency Contact page) will immediately update the other component after saving the data.

Appointment End Date

Department personnel specialists have access to update Appointment End Date in HRIS for those in non-benefit positions. This date may be extended or updated using appropriate timelines and will be the trigger used to automatically terminate these employees during the payroll process.

The HRIS Schedule/Calendar normally identifies the Thursday prior to the last day of the pay period as the Last Day to Update End of Temporary Appointment Date. Appointment End Date Instructions/Report appear on the following HR web page: http://www.k-state.edu/hr/hris/hris_manuals-apptend.html

Position is Important Key in HRIS

Hiring an employee in the correct position is CRITICAL because HRIS (Human Resource Information System) is driven by position. The position is the KEY to providing information to functions within HRIS and is the KEY to providing information for the University community. The position defines essential information that is used to process time and leave, payroll, budget data, management reporting, salary surveys, etc.

Pay Advices

Beginning with the pay period ending Jan. 23 that will be paid Feb. 5, Employee Self Service will be the only way to view paycheck (aka "pay advice") details. Employees will no longer receive a paper pay advice via the U.S. Postal Service. Pay advice/paycheck details are normally available via K-State's Employee Self Service a week prior to payday. For the few employees who receive a paper paycheck, those will continue to be mailed as usual.
