Health Screening and Assessment Information
Please share this information with employees

Don't delay! Sign up for a free Health Screening appointment on the days listed below. A health screening is necessary to complete the health assessment, both of which are required activities to be eligible for discounted premiums on health insurance. These free screenings are one of three ways to get your biometric information, with the other two choices a home test or visit to your physician.

Your Health Screening and Assessment must be completed by July 31, 2012.

To get an appointment:

Register on-line: Log in to your account (or register one if you do not have an account) on the wellness portal at and click on "Health Screenings" from the left menu and then select "Onsite Screenings."

By phone: If you do not have internet access, please call toll-free 1-888-275-1205 and select option 5 for assistance making an appointment.

Remember, you must earn 20 points by July 31, 2012, to be eligible for the reduced premium on health insurance for 2013. The Health Screening and Assessment are worth 5 points each.these 10 points cannot be earned in any way other than receiving a health screening at home, through your physician or at one of the free screenings above AND completing the self-assessment on the Health Quest Portal. Complete information on this portion of the requirement is available on the Health Screening Website.

Any additional points you earn throughout this time period must be manually entered into the HealthQuest portal through the Self-Report choice.

New Employee Orientation - NEO

Enrollment for NEO is now managed by HR Training. Please pass this on to new employees:

To enroll, send an email to with the date you want to attend, your name, department, date of hire, and indicate if you are a classified or unclassified employee.

NEO sessions are held in Edwards Hall the first Thursday of each month except for October, which is the 2nd Thursday.

Summer Insurance Premiums for Nine-Month Employees

Your 9-month employees will or have already received this notice. We are repeating it here should you receive questions.

For 9-month employees, payments for summer insurance benefits are deducted in advance from paychecks in the preceding spring, resulting in .double. deductions of those premiums in the paychecks listed below. Regardless of appointment or salary for summer work, deductions for insurance premiums are not made from summer salaries. Flexible Spending Accounts are not affected.

For your reference, 9-month employees will have double deductions on the following dates as indicated:

Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance summer premiums will be deducted from upcoming paychecks on: March 2, March 16, April 13, April 27, May 11 and May 25.

Teachers and Employees Association Life Insurance (TEA) summer premiums will be deducted from upcoming paychecks on: March 2, April 13 and May 11.

KPERS Optional Life Insurance (OGLI) summer premiums will be deducted from upcoming paychecks on: March 16, April 27 and May 25

Health insurance premiums are not deducted from a 3rd paycheck in any month. For this reason, the paycheck on March 30, 2012, will have no deductions for health insurance premiums.

If you know a 9-month employee is retiring or terminating prior to September 1, 2012, please ask the employee to send a message to with the separation date, full name and department, no later than Monday, February 13, 2012.

Classified Temporaries Reminder

All employees hired as classified temporaries must be pre-approved by Human Resources prior to starting work. Hiring departments must obtain approval and submit a request for background check for individuals hired as temporaries who are expected to work 6 months or more. The offer to hire will be contingent upon results of the background check.

HRIS/Employee Self Service Upgrade Scheduled for March 2012

The Division of Human Resources and the Office of Information Systems will be upgrading HRIS/Employee Self Service March 8-11, 2012. For processing timelines, refer to the March HRIS Schedule:
