Please make certain your classified employees are aware of the policy change regarding maximum vacation leave accrual that went into effect June 15, 2008. Classified employees may now carry a vacation leave balance up to, but not exceeding, 304 hours at any time during the year. The leave overage adjustment now occurs each pay period instead of at the end of the fiscal year. This policy change also eliminated the ability to transfer excess vacation leave to sick leave.
In addition, the maximum vacation leave payouts also changed June 15, 2008 for classified employees. Maximum vacation leave payout upon termination is now 176 hours and upon retirement is 240 hours for classified as well as unclassified employees.
