Retirement-Mandatory

Kansas Public Employees Retirement

Participation is immediate upon appointment and mandatory.

Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR)

Participation is mandatory after one year waiting period. Waiver of one year waiting period is possible through completion of the Documentation of Service for Immediate Participation in Regents Retirement Program (PER-33). Employee has 90 calendar days from hire date to provide this form as documentation of prior participation in a qualifying retirement plan. Submission prior to hire date is encouraged.

Insurance

Group Health Insurance (GHI) Enrollment

Participation is optional. Employee must complete a State of Kansas Health Plan Enrollment Form within 31 calendar days of hire date making their plan and coverage selection or waiving coverage. Submit State of Kansas Health Plan Enrollment Form to Human Resources. Coverage for spouse and/or dependents will require supporting documentation (e.g. marriage or birth certificate).  Coverage begins the first of the month following 30 days of employment.  Coverage Begin Dates for Newly Hired Employees(pdf

KanElect Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Enrollment

Participation is optional. If enrolling, employee must complete a KanElect Flexible Spending Account Enrollment and Change Form within 31 calendar days of hire date making their selection.  FSA Eligibility Table (pdf

KanElect Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Changes

Any qualifying mid-year events must be elected within 31 calendar days of the event. Submit KanElect Flexible Spending Account Enrollment and Change Form to Human Resources. May require supporting documentation (e.g. marriage or birth certificates).

Basic Term Life Insurance

Provided by employer. Enrollment is automatic and insurance coverage is 150% of salary. Submit KPERS-7/99 (Designation of Beneficiary) immediately upon appointment.

KPERS Optional Group Term Life Insurance (OGLI)

Participation is optional. Enrollment may be selected any time; however, employee guaranteed coverage of up to $50,000 if selected within 30 calendar days of hire date. Later enrollments or amounts over $50,000 require underwriter approval.

Teachers and Employees Association (TEA) Term Life Insurance

Participation is optional. Enrollment may be selected any time; however, employee guaranteed coverage of up to $50,000 if selected within 31 days of hire date. Later enrollments or amounts over $50,000 require underwriter approval.
