3. How long after the position closes will it be before I am contacted to schedule an interview?

Processing employment materials within Human Resources usually takes about 2 working days after the closing date. Once this process is completed, eligible applications are forwarded to the hiring department. Departments complete their screening and select the candidates to be interviewed. Once the selection is made, the department should notify candidates by mail if not selected. This process takes approximately two weeks from the closing date.

4. How often or when are new vacancies posted?

New classified vacancies are posted weekly. We recommend that you check on or after Thursdays of each week to view any new postings.

5. How long does my application stay on file?

Applications are forwarded to the departments for screening and selection purposes. Your application will be maintained with the permanent recruitment file. Applicants must submit application materials each time they apply for a position.

6. Do I have to have an applicant identification number to apply for jobs?

No. The first time you apply, you will probably be registering your personal data at the same time. Simply enter "pending" when this number is requested. Approximately two weeks after you submit your registration materials, you will receive a confirmation letter, this letter will have your applicant identification number on it.

7. Can I just give you my applicant identification number so I can apply for this position?

We must have all requested documents by 5 p.m. on the closing date. We do not accept the applicant identification number alone to apply for a position.

8. Will I make the applicant summary of names if I register my personal data when I apply?

This depends on whether or not you have met the minimum requirements for the position. If you do not meet the minimum requirements your application will be rejected, and our office will notify you. If you do meet the minimum requirements your documents will be forwarded to the hiring department for review, normally within 2-3 business days after the closing date.

9. How do I put my name on the list for jobs?

There no longer is a "list" for jobs. You must apply for each vacancy for which you wish to be considered.

10.How do I submit my DD214 or transcripts?

You may submit these documents by mail or deliver them to 103 Edwards Hall. You may also fax documents to (785) 532-6095.
