Health Insurance

The State of Kansas (through the Kansas Department of Health and Environment-KDHE) and Kansas State University provide benefits eligible employees with health insurance plans and related programs as part of their total compensation. Enrollment in these programs is optional. The composition and enrollment period changes from time to time.

State Employee Health Plan Open Enrollment Oct. 1-31

Kansas State University employees may use their eID and password to view and enroll in health benefits. Select Kansas State University as the identity provider in the drop down box, then press Select. Sign in with your K-State eID and password or if you are already logged into one of the K-State administrative systems, you will be signed on automatically.

Changes for Plan Year 2015

  • Employees complete open enrollment elections online through the new Membership Administration Portal (MAP).
  • Two plans to choose from --Plan A or Plan C. Plan B will no longer be offered effective Jan. 1, 2015.
  • Two medical vendors to choose from--Aetna or Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas. (Coventry was purchased by Aetna.)
  • There will be only one full-time salary tier for employee premiums and one for part-time.
  • Healthcare Flexible Spending Account (FSA) will now allow a rollover of up to $500 of unused amounts at the end of a plan year.

Dental

Medical

  • Check out the KDHE Health Insurance website for more information
    • Enrollment and change forms found on the various medical plan homepages are not applicable for State of Kansas employees. All enrollment and change are done by the employee online in the Membership Application Portal.
  • NOTE: Employees desiring to enroll dependents are required by the State of Kansas to provide proof of relationship/dependency for each dependent. Appropriate documentation would include such items as marriage license for spouse or birth certificate for children.
  • Eligibility: (1) First day of month following 30 days of employment, (2) during annual open enrollment, or (3) within 31 days of a qualifying event.

Prescription Drug Plan

Vision Services Plan

 

HealthQuest Rewards - Insurance Premium Discount Program

The Rewards Program is optional and employees are not required to participate in order to be covered under the State Employee Health Plan SEHP. There is no additional cost added to an employee's premium for not participating, but they will be paying the base rate (undiscounted rate) for their insurance coverage.
