Vacation Leave

Classified Employees: Full-time exempt classified employees earn vacation leave per pay period based upon appointment status and years of service. Full-time non-exempt classified employees earn according to the number of hours in pay status during a pay period and years of service. Part-time employees earn vacation leave proportionately to their appointment FTE. Vacation leave hours are available for use the first day of the pay period following accrual. Bi-weekly accruals increase after 5, 10, and 15 years of service.

Unclassified Employees: Exempt and non-exempt unclassified employees appointed to a non-instructional position earn vacation leave based on their appointment status. Nine-month unclassified employees appointed to an instructional position do not earn vacation leave. Vacation leave hours are available for use the first day of the pay period following accrual.

When Eligible: Accrual of vacation leave starts on the first day of employment.

Who Pays: The university pays the employee’s salary while on approved vacation leave.
