Paid holidays are designated by the Governor.

The Governor may also designate one discretionary holiday per calendar year. The discretionary holiday must be taken during the following calendar year dates:

When Eligible: 1st day of employment. Classified employees and 12-month unclassified employees may use the Governor’s discretionary day after 6 months of employment.
Who Pays: The university pays for employees to be off work on days designated as holidays.
