GTA/GRAs who have had health insurance in the previous semester through the GTA/GRA health insurance plan may continue their coverage for up to 18 months. Continuation insurance is available to students who do not meet the GTA/GRA eligibility requirements for the current semester (for example: those who are not working during the summer or those who have graduated).
Continuation Insurance applications and payment must be mailed directly to the insurance company, the address is listed on the form. The continuation insurance form and payment must be received by the insurance company within 60 days of the last date of coverage. Once the application and payment are received, the continuation coverage will be dated with the day after the last date of coverage (for example, the last date of coverage for the spring semester is May 31, the continuation insurance form for the summer would need to be received by the insurance company by July 30, and coverage will be dated June 1).
If coverage is needed after the period originally specified, fill out another continuation form and return it to the company. You will not be notified by the insurance company when your continuation coverage ends.
Note: For students who are not eligible for the summer semester, you will need two months of coverage (June and July).
