Prescription Drug Program

Effective: January 1, 2008

Prescription drug program coverage is provided by CaremarkPCS.

CaremarkPCS:
CaremarkPCS is the Pharmacy Benefit Manager administering the self-insured prescription benefit plan offered to members of the State of Kansas employees health insurance plan. The employee pays 20% of the prescription cost for generic medications; 35% of the prescription cost for preferred brand name medications; 60% of the prescription cost for non-preferred brand name medications; and $75 per prescription fill for special case medications (requires prior authorization). The employee pays 10% up to $10 for generic diabetic and asthmatic medications and 20% up to $20 for preferred brand diabetic and asthmatic medications.

When Eligible: First day of the month following 60 days of employment, during open enrollment, or within 31 days of a qualifying event. (Must be enrolled in group health insurance.)

Who Pays: The university and employee (full-time and part-time) both contribute toward the cost of employee prescription medication coverage. The university and employee (full-time and part-time) both contribute toward the cost of dependent prescription medication coverage.
