  1. Question: What are the four components of the KSU Honor & Integrity System?

    Answer: Honor Pledge, Honor & Integrity System Staff, Honor Council Members, HIPE Members


  2. Question: Who staffs the Honor & Integrity System office?

    Answer: Director, Associate Director, GTA, HC Chair, HIPE President


  3. Question: The Honor & Integrity System Honor Council is made up of 54 members. How do faculty and students become members?

    Answer: Faculty and staff are appointed by respective Deans and Dean of Student Life and approved by the Provost and the President of Faculty Senate. Students are appointed by the Student Body President and the Associate Provost for Diversity and approved by Student Senate. Graduate students are recommended by the Graduate Student Council and appointed by the Graduate Student Council president.


  4. Question: In order to provide diversity on the Honor Council, two campus administrators each appoint three members of the campus community at large. Who are the two administrators?

    Answer: The Dean of Students appoints three staff members at large and the Associate Provost of Diversity appoints three students at large.


  5. Question: Name two responsibilities shared by Honor Council members.

  6. Question: State the Honor Pledge in its entirety.

    Answer: "On my honor, as a student, I have neither given nor received unauthorized aid on this academic work."


  7. Question: KSU is an institutional member of what national organization whose mission is to help educational communities promote integrity in academe?

    Answer: Center for Academic Integrity

  8. Question: What is meant by the Honor & Integrity System's "student development perspective."

    Answer: A general belief held by Honor & Integrity System staff, HC members, and HIPE members that students who are found in violation of the Honor Pledge are still learning what it means to make ethical decisions. Belief in this tenet motivates HC members to use educational sanctions whenever possible in hopes of helping students understand what it means to live "in community," specifically in an educational setting.


  9. Question: Confidentiality is extremely important, period. If you are given a Case packet with sensitive information, with whom can you discuss its contents?

    Answer: You may share information only with the HS staff, HC members, and HIPE advisors assigned to a specific case, and even then, only in the context of "need to know."


  10. Question: What is the time committment for an Honor Council member?

    Answer: Honor Council members are asked to sit on at least one hearing a semester and potentially serve as a CI once during the year.

  11. Question: What is an "AV?" The "HC?" The "H&IS?"

    Answer: Alleged Violator of the Honor Pledge, Honor Council, and Honor & Integrity System.
