Chair Herbster encouraged Honor Council involvement
and leadership opportunities through educating respective college constituents
and serving as case investigators and hearing panelists.
Chair Herbster requests that a Vice Chair be nominated
and elected during the fall semester in order that that person have
experience under the Chair. He will send out an e-mail asking for nominations
from the membership.
Director David Allen reported that an informal name
change has occurred. To help allieviate confusion for faculty and students
on the two offices on campus using the word "Honor" in their
titles (Honor System and University Honors Program), the word "Integrity"
has been added to the KSU Honor System. Later, when the Constitution
comes up for revision, the name will go through an official name change
procedure. Director Allen also brought the Council up to date on the
status of cases. There are five cases still being investigated and adjudicated.
Thanks for all your help and quick responses to requests for service.
Associate Director’s Dr. Helene Marcoux reported
on time blocks as a method of knowing who was available at the same
time for work on cases. A sheet of names was passed around for members
to verify their #1, #2, and #3 blocks of time. A reminder was given
that all HC and HIPE members complete the on-line Professional
Development Modules and attach the WORD document to verify completion,
sending to helene@ksu.edu. Face-to-Face Professional Development Sessions
were announced. All new HC and HIPE members, as well as any who did
not attend last fall's sessions, must attend one section in each session.
Access the Notice
to Newbies for more information.
Cindy Friedrich, Administrative Assistant thanked members
for quick responses to requests made for information and service.
GTA Loni Jensen reported that there are three Development
and Integrity classes up and running for the fall semester. The next
classes available will be in the spring 07 semester. Please keep that
in mind as you use the D&I course as an educational sanction. Classroom
presentations are almost done for the fall semester and we will now
concentrate on new faculty orientations.
Molly Coleman, President of HIPE, reported that there
are 18 members of HIPE after losing a few and gaining a few. She encouraged
attendance at the Professional Development Sessions. She also encouraged
HIPErs to serve by giving presentations and being Advisors when needed.
After a few questions from the audience, the meetings were adjourned,
both within 5 minutes of the 30 minute maximum!
The next HC/HIPE meeting will occur toward the end of the semester, in the same 2-meeting time format.
