CONFIDENTIALITY CREED

I have participated and completed the training that prepares me to be a member of the Honor Council (HC) and Honor & Integrity Peer Educators (HIPE). I understand that I assume the following responsibilities as a member of the HC:

1. As a member of the HC and HIPE, I will respect students' rights to privacy and avoid unwarranted disclosures of confidential information.
   
   
2. As a member of the HC and HIPE, I will have access to details about Honor & Integrity System cases including names, addresses, and student ID numbers. I will not share these pieces of information or any other details regarding incidents I review with anyone outside the case.
   
   
3. As a member of the HC and HIPE, I understand that I can only share the information in a case file with appropriate personnel--Honor & Integrity System staff, case investigators, hearing panelists, HIPE advisors involved in the case.
   
   
4. As a member of the HC and HIPE, I understand that I am responsible for securing the safety and confidentiality of written (or email) information when it is in my possession.
   
   
5. As a member of the HC and HIPE, if I feel a student's personal safety is in jeopardy, I will break confidentiality and inform the Honor & Integrity System staff.
   
   
6. To role model the fundamental values of academic integrity, whether in teaching (as a faculty member) or in learning (as a student).
   
   
7. To inform the Director of the Honor & Integrity System immediately if I believe I may be biased or have a conflict of interest in any given Honor & Integrity System case.
