HRIS Training: Developing HRIS On-Line Skills

Course Name:  HRIS On-Line Basics

Prerequisite:  Be able to use a web browser that supports HRIS

Department:  Human Capital Services

Length of Session:  1 Hour

Audience:  Department HCS Liaisons

Session Description: An introduction to the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) that will focus on how to sign-on/sign-off and navigate through the system pages. This course will be held in a computer lab and each participant will have access to a computer for completing activities presented in class. HRIS access and access forms will be provided and explained in detail. This course is a prerequisite for all other HRIS courses.

Session Objectives:  As a result of this session, participants will:

  • Access HRIS web-based software
  • Sign-on and Sign-off the HRIS
  • Access Home Page
  • Understand Portal Navigation (Menus, Folders, Transaction Pages)
  • Use Search
  • Know Password Management
  • View Pages and Tables in the HRIS
  • Understand Functions within a page
  • Use Hot Keys and Access Keys
  • Understand how effective dates are used in the HRIS
  • Access, view, and navigate through the HRIS pages
  • Perform common on-line inquiries
  • Add and update data on-line
  • Request Help Desk support
Enrollment

You may enroll through HRIS Self-Enrollment to receive immediate confirmation (see the Employee Self Service Learning & Development directions for more information). Or e-mail learning-develop-hr@ksu.edu and include your name, department, employee ID number (required), course title and course date. Enrollment will be confirmed by an e-mail response to the sender.
