Hazardous Waste Awareness

Course Name:  Hazardous Waste Awareness

Prerequisite:  None

Department:  Environmental Health & Safety Staff

Length of Session:  1 Hour

Audience:  All Employees

Session Description:  This course is intended for anyone who handles or is responsible for hazardous waste in a laboratory, shop, studio, etc. and how the waste must be properly managed in accordance with state and federal regulations.  Participants will also discuss medical waste and the appropriate disposal of chemicals from your home.  

Session Objectives:  As a result of this session, participants will:

  • Distinguish hazardous from non-hazardous and medical waste and how to properly handle both.
  • Know how to request a pickup for hazardous and medical waste.
  • Recognize hazardous chemicals found in homes and what to do with them.
