ALiCE Training

Course Code:  WF0476

Course Name:  ALiCE Training

Prerequisite:  None

Department:  Kansas State University Police

Length of Session:  2.5 Hours

Audience:  All employees

Session Description:  Kansas State University Police Department offers training for citizen response to active shooter and critical incidents called ALiCE (Alert, Lockdown, inform, Counter and Evacuate).

Past active shooter incidents have allowed individuals and agencies to evaluate how law enforcement and victims can promote greater survivability. Lockdown-based protocols have been, and continue to be, vastly utilized throughout the U.S. in response to these types of incidents. However, statistics indicate a lockdown-only response might not be the best option under certain circumstances. The ALiCE program explores other available victim responses, while still incorporating lockdown principles that may lead to greater survival rates.

The ALiCE training program explores statistical data and provides suggested available victim responses to individuals who may find themselves in any critical incident, including an active shooter situation. The training is scenario-based and does not require any physical activity by participants.

In addition, K-State Police will provide ALiCE training to individual departments upon request. To make arrangements for training, please contact Chad Jager at cwj7667@ksu.edu or by phone at 785-532-6460.

Session Objectives:  As a result of this session, participants will:

  • Learn statistics which are important in critical incidents.
  • Explore available victim responses to increase survivability in the event of an active shooter situation.
  • Understand resources available during a critical incident.
