Carne Asada Tailgate, Sept. 15, 2012: We hosted an alcohol-free, informal gathering of our general members while spreading the Hispanic culture through its rich and varied cuisine. We had delicious Carne Asada roasting over an open flame, numerous heaps of fresh, handmade corn tortillas and condiments that included guacamole and pico de gallo/ chimole.
6th Annual Midwest HALO Encuentro, Oct. 9th 2012:Hosted this event aiming to empower our minds with the tools we need to make proper decisions when faced by unexpected challenges we may encounter during our collegiate years and in the future.
National Hispanic Heritage Month, (Sept. 15-Oct. 15): In 1968, Congress authorized President Lyndon B. Johnson to proclaim a week in September as National Hispanic Heritage Week. During this month, America celebrates the culture and traditions of U.S. residents who trace their roots to Spain, Mexico and the Spanish-speaking nations of Central America, South America and the Caribbean
Fiebre del Futbol: Soccer Tournament, Oct. 28th, 2012: We hosted a coed soccer tournament encouraging both international and domestic students to participate in a 7 vs 7 thrilling friendly competition for "La Copa H.A.L.O" Trophy.
National Hispanic Leadership Conference: From U.S.H.L.I.'s website "The USHLI Conference is the premier Hispanic leadership conference in the nation, attracting a complete cross-section of the Hispanic leadership community and involving all ancestry groups"
Kansas State University sponsors the most activly engaged and hardworking H.A.L.O. members on a fully paid trip to Chicago, IL. Registration fee applies.
Third Annual Belleza Latina, April 26th, 2013: The pageant that will showcase the Latin beauty here at KSU. First, Second, and Third place winner will receive a scholarship. Contestant registration now open. Restrictions apply.
