What is ReStore?
A ReStore is a place where new and used construction materials are sold, similar to a thrift store but for building materials. A project like this works due to the collaboration of local hardware stores, contractors and individuals to receive the materials needed to sell within the ReStore, thereby reducing waste.

Once the items are received they are then sold to the general public at reduced prices, typically under 50% of the cost of new items. Classes are held to educate the public on how to fix things within their homes at a lower cost than hiring a professional to do the work and purchasing new materials. Due to the lower prices and education received, low-income families and individuals are able to solve many of the issues that are causing their homes to be categorized as substandard.

Additionally, the income made from the ReStore will continue to allow Manhattan Habitat for Humanity to build simple, decent, affordable homes for Riley County residents in need.

What Donations are Accepted?

Manhattan Habitat for Humanity (MHFH) will generally accept any item that you could find at a local hardware store, with a few exceptions: used carpet and paint. Used items are great for donations, but it is requested that non-working items are not donated. Appliances are also accepted. If you are curious about an item, please call!

Can my donation be used in a Habitat home?
No, all donations will be marked to sell in the ReStore. Only new products are put into the MHFH homes, for consistency and to abide by local code.

Will MHFH pick up my donation?
Yes, please call the office to make arrangements. Pick-ups are done as they are requested by a volunteer team. There may be a delay of a week to 10 days depending on the demand.

Can I receive documentation for my itemized deduction for my donation?
Yes, MHFH will gladly provide you with an in-kind receipt for your donation that will list the items that were donated and the date of donation. However, the value of the donation will need to be determined by you and your accountant!

When is the ReStore open?
Currently, our ReStore is only open the 1st Saturday of the month from 9am-2pm. Check back periodically to see if the hours have increased! But donations are accepted anytime throughout the month.

Where is the ReStore located?
ReStore is located at 2711 Amherst (a warehouse attached to Living Word Church), to the East of Seth Child Rd.
Who are the ReStore customers?
Anyone interested! Landlords, contractors, thrifty homeowners, low-income families, your neighbor.

What are the primary goals of the
ReStore?
