Habitat Meeting Minutes

- - - November 7th, 2006 - - -

We had our November meeting on Tuesday the 7th in the Little Theatre of
the Union. Here are the minutes:

We have our t-shirts in, and have many of them, so if you paid for one
or still want to pay for one we will have them at the December meeting
for you to pick up.

We will be having officer elections at the meeing on December 5th. All
officer positions are up for grabs, this includes: President, Vice
President, Secretary, Treasurer, Special Events Coordinator, Workday
Coordinator, Publicity Chair, and Recycling Chair. If you are
interested all you have to do is nominate yourself or have someone else
nominate you at the meeting. If you have any questions about the
various positions, you can contact any of the current officers and they
would be happy to answer any questions.

Collegiate Challenge is finalized. We have 12 spots reserved for Spring
Break at Myrtle Beach. If you are interested in going please contact
Katrina Marshall klm34@ksu.edu. Anyone can go.

The Habitat website is up and running, or should be shortly, you can
check it out at www.ksu.edu/habitat. It will have all of the meeting
minutes and any new happenings and events.

We are still currently working on the listserv, it was working but now
its not again, it will hopefully be done soon!

We have gotten a lot of work done at the Re-Store. It is looking really
good, thanks to all who have been helping. We will try to have one
more workday before the end of the semester, so keep your eyes open for
an email for that.

Recycling is going well, we had quite a few people sign up at the last
meeting to help pick up cans, however, we need to know if those people
are still planning on helping because we haven't gotten any responses
back from them. Please email Amanda Ewing if you are currently or
still interested in helping.

Row For Humanity held a meeting, we had the men's crew team president
there to talk about it. It will be held Feb 3 at Manhattan Town
Center. Keep in mind you must participate in Row to stay an active
member of Habitat. Please contact Jayme Cooper coop11@ksu.edu if you
weren't at the meeting and need to get a packet to send out the fliers.
We are asking each individual to have a personal goal of raising $150.
Bring your packets back at the Dec 5 meeting and we will put the
stamps on the fliers and mail them out.

The next meeting will be December 5 at 8 pm at the Union.

- - - October 3rd, 2006 - - -

Our Meeting was held on October 3 in the Union. Once again we had a
great
turnout!

Our first order of business was finding a publicity chair, since our
previous one had stepped down.

The listserv is now up and running, so hopefully you will no longer be
getting the massive emails.

We will be ordering our shirts soon, If you haven't signed up yet, you
can
email Amanda Ewing. They are $10 each.

We are getting ready to register for Collegiate Challenge. We are going
to
reserve 12 spaces, if you are interested in going and did not attend the
meeting, let Katrina know and she will fill you in. We are going to
Myrtle
Beach, SC. It will be the week of Spring Break.

The recycling program is going well. We are currently waiting for more
boxes to come in to distribute at various houses/schools/residence
halls.
We are also trying to contact KU about the Aluminum Challenge we are
having
with them to get all the details squared away.

We will be having a meeting on October 17 at 8pm on the second floor
couches
at the Union for Row For Humanity. If you are wanting to be on a
committee
to help with Row please come to the meeting. Keep in mind everyone will
participate in Row For Humanity to stay a member of Habitat.

Campus Escape has held a couple meetings to start the planning process
for
the race. If you are interested in helping contact Jayme Cooper or
Katrina
Marshall.

We are still working out at the Re-Store trying to get it cleaned up and
ready to go. Contact Scott Cary if you are interested in helping.

Our next meeting will be November 7 at 8pm in the North Dining Room of
the
Union.

- - - September 8th, 2006 - - -

Our first meeting of the semester for Habitat For Humanity was September
5th at 8pm. It was held in the North dining room of the union. We had
a wonderful turnout and would like to thank all of you who could come.
Here is what we talked about:

We had officer introductions.

Dusty Ewing President
Amanda Ewing Vice President/Recycling Chair
Scott Cary Workday Coordinator
Steve Knight Webmaster
Jayme Cooper Special Events Coordinator
Katrina Marshall Secretary
Adrian Webb Treasurer
Kate Steib Publicity Chair
Joanna Testa Recycling Chair
Hannah Shope Recycling Chair

We then played a little game to explain what habitat for humanity was
all about.

We broke into groups to decide who would like to be involved in which
aspects of habitat. The groups were: Recycling, Special Events, and
Workdays.

Recycling is working on a major goal for this semester. For the past
couple years we have supposedly been in a challenge against KU's
Habitat chapter to see who can recycle the most cans and raise the most
money. Well they won the past two years. This year we are trying our
hardest to make sure that does not happen again. The recycling chairs
have some great ideas to make this happen.

Special Events are currently getting ready for Row for Humanity, which
is when we partner with the KSU and Manhattan High's Rowing Teams to
raise money for Habitat. We will be working on the flyers for the
event, which will be held in February, but flyers will go out to family
and friends asking for money before Christmas break. We are also
working on our second fundraiser, Campus Escape, and we will hopefully
be planning a trip to do a collegiate challenge for spring break. More
details to come at the next meeting.

Workdays are currently at a slow point in time, however there are some
little things to be done around some previously built houses. There is
also the ReStore, which is currently our biggest building project, we
are hoping to get it fixed up and organized to start selling items and
making money.

We will be getting T-shirts this semester as always. They will be $10,
any proceeds will go to habitat. If you would like a t-shirt and
havent already signed up for one, please email Amanda Ewing.

We also decided we are going to be implementing rules to being a member
of habitat. They are as follows:

*Attend two meetings per semester
*Participate in Row for Humanity in the Fall and Campus Escape in the
Spring
*Volunteer at a workday/ReStore

Our next meeting will be the 3rd of October at 8pm in the North Dining
Room of the Union
