2008 GROW Summer Workshop
June 25-27
Kansas State University

The GROW Workshop is a three-day program held on the
K-State campus. This event is designed to encourage and inspire middle school girls (graduating from the 6th and 7th grades in May 2008) to pursue a future in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Participants live in the dorms during their stay and have the opportunity to meet other girls from Kansas and other states who are also interested in sciences & engineering. K-State female undergraduate students serve as mentors. Two mentors are assigned to each small group of girls (about 10 girls in a group). They stay with their group throughout the entire workshop.

The cost is $200 which includes housing, all meals from lunch on Wednesday to lunch on Friday, snacks and a t-shirt!

A limited number of scholarships are available for families in need of financial assistance. Scholarships are awarded on a case-by-case basis. Applications are reviewed in the order which they are received. Scholarship applications will be reviewed  after the May 30th registration deadline. Acceptance notification letters will be mailed by June 4th. Scholarship criteria include but not limited to:

  • Family income

  • Number of persons living on income

  • First generation college student status (parents did not graduate from college)
