GROW 2004 Summer Workshop

A workshop hosted by Kansas State University June 22-24, 2004.
Sponsored by a grant from the National Science Foundation, the
KSU Women in Engineering and Science Program and our partners

WHAT:

The GROW Workshop was a three-day science enhancement activity held on the Kansas State University campus. It featured presentations and hands-on sessions run by KSU faculty and students, individuals from industry (Boeing & Garmin) as well as group activities on career choices and other topics. Participants gained experience with laboratory based science, field science, and data analysis and interpretation. A diverse range of activities were included to emphasize the career possibilities in the sciences and engineering.

WHO:

105 girls who completed sixth and seventh grades in 2003, either as individuals or with a Girl Scout troop or similar organization. Undergraduate and graduate escorts who escorted the girls also attended all workshop activities.

THE EVENTS:

Girls participated in one of seven "tracks" of activities. Each track included a variety of activities. The overall schedule is shown below. Click on the workshop titles to see pictures and descriptions of the activities!
