GROW 2002 Summer Workshop - Electric
Signals
Presented By: Daniel Marcus, K-State
Faculty
Many parts of our bodies (such
as heart, skeletal muscles and nerves) produce electric signals.
Other body functions (such as breathing) that do not directly
produce their own electricity can be observed by producing
electric signals through instruments. We can use both types
of these signals as windows to observe our organs at work
in order to understand how they function in health and disease.
In this activity session, GROW girls built a simple electric
circuit and used computerized electronic instruments to observe
electric signals from their own bodies.
