Fall 2002 Tours - Midwest Ear

Lisa Buckler, Director of Clinical
Services, began our tour by explaining the scope of services
provided by MEI and the history of the cochlear implant.
After the introductions, GROW
girls had the opportunity to experience various tests that
are performed by the staff at MEI.
Lisa showed the girls the various
types of cochlear implants and the room where they test the
implants after the surgery.
Kristen Dawson, MEI audiologist, explains the testing process
for testing balance and how the test helps them assess a patients
progress. One of the GROW girls is actually taking the test!
Lisa Buckler shows girls the technology they use to view
the ear canal.
GROW girls had the opportunity to try out the technology
at MEI and give each other hearing tests.
