Panhellenic Fiscal Year 2010 Budget passes
After much discussion, the Panhellenic budget for the 2010 Fiscal year passed at the last Panhellenic Council meeting (November 24). View a copy of the FY2010 Budget.
The cost for PNMs to participate in Formal Membership Recruitment for August 2009 will be $65 (almost $200 cheaper than two years ago!). Chapters will be billed an all-inclusive per member fee in both the fall 2009 and spring 2010 semesters – no additional fees will be billed.
The FY2010 budget was passed earlier than in year’s past at the request of chapter leadership in order to allow chapter budgets to more appropriately reflect the Panhellenic fees and dues.
A special thank you to the Finance Committee members: Macy Wendler, PHC President; Courtney Graham, Alpha Chi Omega chapter president; Ashlie Kirk, Delta Delta Delta chapter president; Amy Renz, Alpha Xi Delta corporation president; and Pat Parker, Kappa Alpha Theta alumna.
Extension Committee recommendations discussed at Panhellenic Council meeting
As a result of the work of the Extension Committee, the Panhellenic Council considered two important motions which were originally presented at the November 10 Panhellenic Council meeting.
The resolution to allow chapters to recruitment to average chapter size passed with support of all chapter present at the November 24 Panhellenic Council meeting. Chapters are immediately able to recruit to average chapter size (147 women). Read the full resolution.
The resolution to open for extension was brought off the table at the same meeting. Currently the resolution reads the earliest a group would be able to colonize as Spring 2010. An amendment to the resolution was offered to push this date back to Fall 2010. Both the amendment and the resolution were tabled. Read the full resolution.
Prepare your chapter home for winter months
Greek Affairs staff wishes to encourage each chapter to consider the effects from the ice storm last December, and think about what you can do to better prepare your chapter and your members for a similar situation this winter. It is wise for your chapter to stock up on bottled water, food that is ready to eat, flashlights & batteries, ice melt, snow shovels, and potentially a generator, weather radio, etc. Hopefully we won't have to deal with a situation like last year, but if we do each chapter should be prepared as best they can. Please let us know if you have any questions regarding winter emergency management resources or emergency plans for K-State!
2nd Fall Billing Statements mailed, due December 15
By now you should have received the 2nd fall billing statement from Greek Affairs/the Panhellenic Council. Please review the statement and present payment as need be by December 15. Most chapters will only notice a credit as actual recruitment expenses were considerably under budget!

NPC announces two exciting ventures!
The National Panhellenic Conference will continue its partnership with Merck & Co. to build disease awareness of HPV and its link to cervical cancer. Maybe you've seen the TV ads that give HPV facts. This is the campaign that NPC is helping to promote. More information on HPV.
In addition, the National Panhellenic Conference has launched a new Web site called "The Sorority Life" aimed at changing attitudes, misperceptions and common stereotypes. Targeting young women between the ages of 16 and 18, the resource-rich site features various sections where young women can make educated choices about the paths they take in college that can affect social and in-person networking options for decades to come. The site, www.thesororitylife.com, launched Monday, Nov. 17.
