Officer Reports
The IFC and PHC have big goals for this year; goals that are attainable and relevant for holistic Greek advancement. Goal sets are structured in a way to charge chapters and also for the IFC and PHC to work together. In order for our Greek community to flourish, the IFC and PHC Board of Directors and chapter officers will need to continue working together for the betterment of our community. Strengthening bonds between the IFC/PHC and chapters and the bonds between individual chapters is first and foremost. We must work together and respect each other in order for positive relationships to ensue. The chapters need to view the IFC/PHC as a tool that can be accessed for the purpose of fraternal advancement. The IFC and PHC are going to become involved on a personal level with chapters by outreaching and engaging chapters on an individual basis. The IFC and PHC will work with any chapter at any time to ensure success; the IFC and PHC boards were elected to serve.
Ap-a-thy is the absence or suppression of passion, emotion, or excitement. We must avoid apathy; it is detrimental to chapters and our Greek community as a whole. We must find ways to maintain the passion we have, as well as develop a new passion. Chapter leaders and the IFC/PHC leaders need to lead our community with a positive, motivational attitude, keeping the members energized at all times. As K-State Greeks we are engaged with the university and local community, however, at times our efforts are not recognized. In order to maintain motivation, we need positive reinforcement from outside the Greek community. The IFC and PHC propose a continued effort to publicize our efforts while recognizing achievement. Specifically, The IFC and PHC are going to work with campus entities in order to further recognize Greek accomplishments. This approach will provide motivational value while pushing members towards further achievement. If we can come together and act to be recognized as a community we can avoid apathy and prosper.
As we build new relationships and rejuvenate old ones, we ensure relevance inside our Greek community. We must first be relevant to each other before we can be relevant to others. As we build interfraternal relevance we are building a cohesive community; cohesive communities are relevant communities. In these ever changing times relevance is a hot subject. We must remain relevant in order to survive. We have new campus leadership to look forward to, as well as a campus wide 7% budget cut that is destined to increase. These changes are putting pressure on organizational groups to cut budgets and programs, the Greek community included. We are in an environment where only the strongest will survive; the most relevant will survive. We must prove our worth here at K-State. We will do this by living our ritual. The first sentence of the vision statement sums it up: "People will recognize our contributions as essential to the Kansas State University Community and can see us live our organizational and community values through our daily actions." This is how we build relevance, we work together. The IFC and PHC are committed to helping foster those relationships and creating a positive dialog. Together we will continue our tradition of relevance.
We are in a time period that could very well determine our level of existence and self governance here at K-State; the time to be relevant is now. We must work hard as a community, proving that we are a valuable part of the university. We need to understand that this time of change can be a time of advancement for our Greek community. We have the opportunity as leaders and as chapter members to prove that we are valued and relevant. There are big things Greeks are going to face this year. The IFC and PHC are committed to doing anything it takes to succeed. Let's get together, work hard, and make this year one to remember!!!

Up-Til-Dawn
Great News! The Up-Til-Dawn members at K-State have already met last
year's total. We have raised over $108,000 so far! However, we still
aren't quite where we want to be. Our goal is $150,000 and we are
absolutely convinced that we will meet this goal, but we need your
help. If you have members in your house that still need to write
letters, or you would like to host a letter-writing party at your Greek
house, please email Julie Hartman jhartman@ksu.edu). Also, be ready
March 6th for the UTD Final Event, lots of fun games, prizes, and free
food, so mark your calendars!

selecting Galle to chair the search committee. In July, the Board selected
the members of the search committee; 18 individuals representing KSU
constituencies such as faculty, students, administration, staff,
alumni/foundation, the Manhattan community, and the Board of Regents. The
Search Committee began its work in August, and, following the visits by the
three finalists, will submit to the Board of Regents an unranked list of the
top candidates who are the most qualified for Board selection as President
of KSU. The Board expects a new president to be designated early in 2009,
to assume the presidency at KSU on or about July 1, 2009.
