Projected Sorority fees
Projected dues and fees for membership are developed from the averages of the chapter-reported dues and fees. Some chapters will assess a number above this projection, some will assess a number below this projection.
These numbers represent fall 2008 semester projections.
Affiliation dues and fees, one-time expenses: $571
This fee is typically assessed by the chapter to cover the costs of new member affiliation. All new members can expect to pay a similar fee during the first semester of membership.
Out-of-house member dues and fees: $697/semester
This fee is assessed to members living outside of the chapter house to cover expenses such as property use, national and Panhellenic dues, social dues, etc. Typically women live in the chapter house sophomore through junior years and thus pay this fee their freshmen and senior years only.
In-house member dues and fees: $2,813/semester
This fee is assessed to members living in the chapter house to cover room and board expenses (including typically a meal plan), national and IFC dues, social dues, etc. Typically women live in the chapter house sophomore through junior years.
Additional costs
Optional costs for some chapters come in the form of T-shirts, extra outings, regional or national conferences, etc. Members are encouraged to be mindful of their budget and only spend accordingly. Grant and scholarship money exists for many of the additional educational opportunities through the local Panhellenic Council and national sorority. All chapters or national organizations offer scholarships available to members by application.
Billing and paying fees
Each chapter operates on a slightly different dues and fees structure and bills accordingly. In the third round of recruitment events, all chapters will break down the cost of membership and provide an opportunity for participants to ask questions regarding fees, dues, and billing. Payment plans are available for all chapters. Typically bills are paid on a monthly basis, and contracts bind women for the academic year.
