How selection works

After each round of recruitment, participants will enter into a computer system their preference of chapters they would like to attend the next round. Each participant should make this decision based only on their feelings and knowledge she has of the chapters she visited and be careful not to base her opinion on the opinion of others. In the same manner, chapter members will decide who they would like to invite back to the next round. Prior to each round, participants will receive a schedule of chapters they have been matched with for visits.

After attending their last event of preference round, participants will meet with their recruitment guides to complete their sorority preference list and then enter their selection into the computer system. Each potential new member will list in rank order the chapters whose preference events she attended. An invitation from any chapter preferenced is binding for one calendar year from that date. If the potential new member does not receive an invitation from her first preference, she may receive an invitation from her second or third preference.

Once a potential new member receives an invitation to pledge a chapter, she becomes a new member of that sorority. There will be a pledging ceremony, in which chapters ask their new members to pledge themselves to the ideals of the sorority. Pledging occurs on the evening of Bid Day or at the first chapter meeting. Pledging ceremonies may be formal or informal depending on the chapter.

If a potential member declines a bid, she may not join any other sorority at K-State for one calendar year.
