On-Campus Housing. Kansas State University's Department of Housing and Dining Services provides residence hall living for approximately 3,800 students and 528 apartments for students and their families.

Residence Halls. The residence halls provide many lifestyle options for students. Both single-gender and co-educational halls are available. Most rooms are double occupancy; some large triples and suites are also available. One residence hall provides for continuous stay for 9 months or 12 months, an option that is particularly beneficial to graduate students since they do not have to find other housing options during holidays and between semesters. All students living in the residence hall must purchase a meal plan. Application by February 1 is strongly recommended, as assignments are based on application date. Apartments. Students with families of no more than two children and married couples with at least one spouse enrolled as a full-time student may apply for one and two bedroom apartments at Jardine Apartments Complex. Individuals with families and married couples are eligible for the two bedroom option. A limited number of furnished apartments are available. One- and two-bedroom apartments are available at William's Place for graduate and non-traditional students. Application by February 1 for Fall semester is strongly recommended, as assignments are based on application date and the demand for apartments is high. Temporary Housing. The Department of Housing and Dining Services will provide temporary housing (rooms in the residence halls) for international students who arrive early to participate in the International Student Center's fall orientation and do not have permanent housing available to them upon arrival. The cost ranges from $25 per night per person for double occupancy. Linens are included in this price. Meals can be purchased in the dining hall for an extra fee. Two different types of housing are available:

1. Temporary housing is for students who DO NOT have a contract for the Academic Year for one of the residence halls or apartments on campus.
2. Early arrival housing is for students who DO have a contract for the Academic Year for one of the residence halls or apartments on campus.

These options are only available prior to the opening of the residence halls to permanent guests in August. Individuals staying in temporary housing will have to make arrangements for other housing after this date. Contact guestrh@ksu.edu for more information.

Students arriving in the fall need to notify Graduate School by the 25th of June whether or not they will need temporary/early arrival housing. You can contact us by fax, telephone, mail, or e-mail. Students arriving in the spring need to contact Housing and Dining Services directly to request early arrival housing. This should be done prior to finalizing your travel plans. In the Spring this service is available only to students who have a Spring Housing and Dining Services Contract because space is limited.

Off-Campus Housing. Advertisements for off-campus housing appear in the Manhattan Mercury and other local newspapers, as well as in the KSU Collegian, a University-run newspaper. The web site for the Manhattan Mercury, http://www.themercury.com, is maintained daily and will include many ads for individual apartments for rent, apartment complexes, and houses for rent or sale.

The KSU Collegian also has a web site at http://kstatecollegian.com. The KSU Collegian is published daily during the fall and spring semesters and weekly in the summer. There will be information in the classified ad section about available housing, as well as ads for roommates.

The Consumer and Tenant Affairs Office, located in the Office of Student Activities and Services on the ground floor of the K-State Student Union, maintains a bulletin board that lists available rental units and various other housing offices. A roommate matching service is also available.

Tenant Information. A Tenants Handbook of Rights and Responsibilities, along with other important information, is available at http://www.ksu.edu/legal/.
