Research Forums and Travel Grants

Research Forums
To promote Graduate and Undergraduate Research, Graduate Student Council organizes

  • K-State Research Forum (KRF)
  • Capitol Graduate Research Summit (CGRS)

The K-State Research Forum (KRF) The KRF is an annual K-State event sponsored by the Graduate Student Council that showcases scholarly research conducted by undergraduate and graduate students. This event provides a great opportunity for K-State students to share their research with the campus community and to gain experience presenting their work in a professional setting. Students will present their research to a panel of faculty judges who will award the top presentations in each section.

The KRF for the 2009-2010 academic year is to be held in the K-State Student Union on Thursday, February 11, 2010. The graduate poster presentation session will be on display most of the day, with the researchers present for judging for approximately a two hour period. Graduate oral presentation sessions will be held in the morning and in the afternoon. The final oral sessions will be followed by the awards ceremony at 4:00 pm. Last year’s KRF featured 78 presentations from nearly 30 campus departments.

Abstract submission guidelines

The Capitol Graduate Research Summit (CGRS) will be held in Topeka on March 25, 2010. This event consists of research poster presentions by graduate students from Kansas State University, Wichita State University, and the University of Kansas, the three major research institutions under the Kansas Board of Regents. Timed to coincide with the Board of Regents' March meeting, graduate student presenters have the opportunity to meet with state legislators, the governor, and the Board of Regents.

Graduate students interested in participating in CGRS must present a poster on research relevant to the state of Kansas at the K-State Research Forum in February. The top ten KRF poster presentations will be selected for presentation at CGRS. This high profile event is enjoyable and is also a great addition to a graduate student's curriculum vitae.
