Graduate Course and Curriculum

Proposals for the modification in courses, academic plans, and degree programs are submitted via Curriculog, the automated course and curriculum software used by K-State. The Graduate School, through the operation of Graduate Council, is responsible for approving all courses above 599 and graduate curriculum proposals (except for DVM courses and curriculum) before such programs are considered by Faculty Senate Academic Affairs Committee (FSAAC). Graduate Council’s course and curriculum policies are detailed in the Graduate Council Constitution. Policies regarding graduate certificate programs are detailed in Chapter 4 of the Graduate Handbook. The checklist that the Graduate Council committees use to evaluate the new course and curriculum for approval can be found here.

The Office of the Registrar has published the Approval, Routing, and Notification Policies (ARN) for Course and Curriculum Processes. It describes the procedures that must be followed for all matters relating to modifications in courses, academic plans, and degree programs. This includes adding and discontinuing courses and degree programs. Individuals are encouraged to see Appendix B: Best Practices for Successful Course and Curriculum Proposals. Steps for all approvals and notifications for curriculum and course changes, for both undergraduate and graduate levels, can be found in Appendix A: Routing Tables for Various Proposals.
